What is the university football league?
In both the summer and winter semesters, more than 350 active players from over 20 countries come together in Erfurt to compete in up to 15 teams several times a week to win the coveted university football league championships. Often supported by more than 200 loyal fans, players of both sexes and different nationalities play against and with each other, also for charitable causes.
Thanks to a good mix of students from both universities (the university and Fachhochschule) and non-students, it's a perfect way to meet new people.
If you don't fancy playing football yourself, don't worry. There's a lot of work that goes into organizing a football league, and it doesn't get done by itself. By taking a look behind the scenes, you can learn what goes on in the background and how it's all put together.
Regular events
During both the summer and winter semesters, matches are regularly held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the sports ground in Grubenstraße, Erfurt.
Depending on the weather (especially in winter) and allocation by the Erfurt sports authorities, the season ends about two to three weeks before the exam period. Otherwise, we also have the option of playing indoor futsal.
