What do the faculty student reps do?
The "Fachschaftsräte" (FSR) are committees, similar to the StuRa, made up of students from a specific department or faculty who are elected every two semesters. The main difference to the StuRa is that they specifically represent their department or faculty and report to the StuRa.
The legislative period of an FSR is one year and begins with the constituent meeting, which usually takes place at the end of the summer semester. At the end of the legislative period, FSR members can be awarded up to 4 credit points (2 per semester) depending on their level of involvement, along with a certificate confirming their role if required.
The main responsibilities of the FSRs are:
- Advice and support: The FSR can help you with any questions you may have about your degree program, such as exams, timetables or module choices, and provides support for all students experiencing problems.
- Events anr networking: The FSR organizes freshers' week, student parties, workshops or fied trips to help students interact with others on their degree programs.
- Communication: The FSR liaises between students, lecturers and the university executive board to improve communication and cooperation.
